Creativity, the lost art

Every now and then I propose to my daughters that we try a truly novel effort at performance art, but they always turn me down. This happens even when they’re looking for something truly original to do.

The other day, for example, my youngest daughter was saying that people wouldn’t leave her alone. I made my usual offer:
I could get a sharpie and write,
“Property of John Perry”
on your forehead. That’ll get people to leave you alone.
She rejected the idea out of hand.

Teenagers! Ten years ago, she probably would have let me do it. Maybe my grandchildren will be more open to my creativity.
