  1. Tu verus mundi lúcifer,
    non is qui parvi síderis
    ventúræ lucis núntius
    angústo fulget lúmine,

  2. Sed toto sole clárior,
    lux ipse totus et dies,
    intérna nostri péctoris
    illúminans præcórdia.

  3. Evíncat mentis cástitas
    quæ caro cupit árrogans,
    sanctúmque puri córporis
    delúbrum servet spíritus.

  4. Sit, Christe, rex piíssime,
    tibi Patríque glória
    cum Spíritu Paráclito,
    in sempitérna sǽcula. Amen.
  1. You are the world’s true light bearer,
not this one, whose small star’s
    announcement of the coming light
    shines with a brief radiance,

  2. But brighter than the whole sun,
    this complete light and day,
    illuminates the entire breast
    of our heart.

  3. May the mind’s chastity completely conquer
that which the the arrogant flesh craves,
and may the spirit of a pure heart
    conserve a holy shrine.

  4. Glory to you and to the Father,
    Christ, most blessed king,
    with the Spirit Paraclete,
    into eternal ages. Amen.
